Gunnar

GUNNAR is that big chocolate lab you have been looking for. He is almost 4 yrs old in May 2013, he weighs in at about 90 lbs and he loves people. He does have lots of energy and he will need some work on the leash in order to be a truly respectable guy. Gunnar likes other dogs and loves to play. We just got him in here at Fur and Feather after his young mom died suddenly last week . We still have much to learn about him but so far we like what we see. This is a lovely dog, definitely a purebred. His adoption fee is $110.00 and that includes his neuter, vaccinations and a microchip. If you are a lab person this is your guy. Call us and make an appt to come and meet him

Ramona

RAMONA is a beautiful young rottweiler about 1.5 yrs old here in the early summer of 2013. She has not
had much experience with life in general so she is not very brave. Her temperament is gentle and willing and she weighs about 75 lbs, Ramona will step towards you for treats but definitely needs lots of time to get to know the people handling her. I would recommend her to a person that is experienced with these dogs, someone who wants a real friend and partner. She has lot of try and is young enough that she will become a superb companion. We are working her with groups of dogs and she is timid when meeting new friends. Not a tough guy type at all. Her adoption fee is $150.00 and she is spayed, vaccinated and micro chipped. This is a beautiful dog with tons of potential. Make an appt to come meet her and allow some time to sit with her.

Carter

CARTER is a delightful, happy and uncomplicated little parti-color Cocker Spaniel. He is a purebred about
8 yrs old and neutered, very healthy with a great interest in life. He will follow you everywhere, does very well with the other dogs and is good with the cats too. Carter is not hyper or anxious at all, I can't say enough about how well rounded he is. His adoption fee is $110.00 and that includes his neuter, shots and a microchip. This is a terrific little dog, he will be good in a family or as a companion for a couple or single person as he loves people. Call us to make an appt, you won't be disappointed.

Honey Update

Hi Laurie,
I just wanted to let you know how well Honey is doing.  She is more relaxed now than before.  I think she has gotten used to us and to living in the house.  She only has had one house accident and that was in the first day or so when she wasn't sure where to go.  She goes for walks nearly every day and she just prances along, so cute.  Her most favorite thing is to ride in the car and she gets to go out about every day.  She has learned to come, sit, stay, and come in and come out.  We took her to the vet and she has a clean bill of health and is ready to travel with us to Ruidoso in June and the Oregon coast in July. She is a wonderful member of our family and we're so happy to have her.Inline image 1

Lulu and Bruno are ready for adoption

We have been unable to locate the owner(s) so these two beauties are available for adoption:

LULU is a beautiful dog with that sweet hound dog personality. She is 2.5 yrs old here in the early summer of 2013. LuLu just came to us here at Fur and Feather after being found roaming so she needs to fatten up some but otherwise she is in good shape. She is a good house dog, sleeps in a crate if you want her to and asks to go out for the bathroom. There was a young lab type of puppy with her when they were found and she is very gentle and nurturing towards him. She did have a microchip so we know her age and breeding. Lulu is ready to be adopted since she is so well trained. Her adoption fee is $130.00 and that also includes her spay and vaccinations. Lovely dog.

BRUNO is a wonderful, good nature boy that looks like he is going to be huge. We think he was probably born in late March 2013, so he is just getting started. He has a very big bone structure, large rib cage and big feet. Bruno was wandering with an adult hound so he is already a little bit worldly. He is so smart, he goes in and out of the house and is very self confident with the other dogs and cats. He is mellow and learned his name in about 5 minutes. Can't say enough about this puppy. His adoption fee is $110.00 and that includes a $60.00 voucher which will be refunded to you when he is neutered. He is vaccinated, has been wormed and he will come with a microchip. This is a super puppy. Make an appt to come and meet him and you will fall instantly in love.

Found Dogs

We've just accepted a Plott Hound and a puppy that were lost/abandoned in the Red Hill area of northern Catron county.  We don’t know how long they were on the road but someone saw them and invited them into the car.  They are very friendly.

The puppy is going to be a big boy.  These two are totally bonded.

The Plott Hound is probably a pedigreed dog.  She is already spayed.  The Plott Hound has a microchip but we weren’t able to track down the last person that had her.  I’m hoping someone here in Catron County knows who these two dogs belong to.    If we don’t find the owners, we will list these two dogs  for adoption.  You can see they are both beautiful dogs.

Please let us know if you know where these two dogs came from.  Here's a picture of the pup and two of the adult female.

Whimzie

WHIMZIE IS a very beautiful girl, funny, loving and faithful. She is great with other dogs of all types, she
enjoys riding in the car and she is a very good house dog. Being a herding dog gives her a very inquisitive nature, she likes to be busy and have things to keep her mind and body going all day if possible. Whimzie does need a person that knows dogs well and is willing to put some time into this wonderful dog. She does not like strangers and does require close supervision when meeting people. Once she is used to you there will be no better friend. Lots of attention and mileage will serve this dog well. It would be easier if you live a lifestyle that does not include people coming and going all the time. A ranch life would be ideal, where she could be a working dog which is what she is bred to be. Her adoption fee is $130.00 and that includes her spay, shots and a microchip. This is a beautiful dog for the right person.

Fundraiser Dinner/Dance & auction

The dinner, dance, and auction were fun and attended by many people.  They came from all over the place.

We want to thank all the people that planned and did all the work for this event.  Thank you to the band for entertaining all of us.  We want to thank all the people that attended and were so very generous.

One family drove down from Albuquerque, camped Friday night, and came to show support.  This wonderful family has two of our dogs and one other one they rescued.  You may have seen updates from them about the dogs—Dusty, Swizzle and Zia.  I got to see and pet the three dogs during the event.  They are all so very healthy and happy.  We are delighted that this family has taken in and loved all these dogs.

Thanks again to everyone!  We appreciate your generosity and show of support.
From all of us at FFAA, Inc.

Forest, Denim, Cricket and Peggy ready for adoption

FOREST is a very friendly and outgoing young dog that is about 4 yrs old here in early summer of 2013. He needs a grooming ASAP as you will see in his photos, we just haven't gotten to it yet. He is very healthy tho, absolutely loves being with people and stays close by while outside. From the background we did get it seems he has always been treated kindly until he was left behind.. Forest's adoption fee is $110.00 and that includes his neuter, shots and a microchip. This little guy will be a wonderful family dog too. He weighs about 25 lbs. Come and meet Forest!!

DENIM is a kind and hopeful neutered male, 4 years old in the Spring of 2013 He is a typical working dog
with lots of intelligence and try. This guy craves attention and will make a fine addition to your ranch or country style living. He has a gentle demeanor with other dogs so having other dogs in your family will be just fine. Denim's adoption fee is $110.00 and that includes his neuter, shots and a microchip. Very handsome boy.

Cricket is a funny, sweet, high energy dog that just loves to stay busy. She is about 3.5 yrs old as of Spring
2013, small, about 35 lbs, and she sleeps all night in the house, but if given the chance she prefers to stay outside all day. This is not a dog you can just leave in the yard. She needs lots of interaction and exercise because the working dog is very strong in Cricket. Her favorite past time here is chasing Ravens across the field for hours at a time. She is not a big fan of playing with other dogs but she would do well with a companion dog that is gentle and would not intimidate Cricket. This girl will make you laugh and she is very loving, she is great with cats too. Her adoption fee is $130.00 and that includes her spay, shots and a microchip. This is a lovely dog and she will make a great. companion.

AND THEN there is PEGGY!! This little gal is quite the character. Peggy weighs about 25 lbs. and she is
around 4 yrs old in Spring 2013. She has been here at FFAA for about 3 yrs now, just hanging out as part of the gang. She is a great house dog but loves to be outside during the day helping with chores. Peggy is very shy but warms up quickly. It has been hard for her here because she loves me but does not get the one on one attention she needs. I have finally decided that it is time for her to get her own person that can take her to the next level. She has some watch dog in her, will bark when necessary, and she is an underdog in the dog pack hierarchy, so she could live with just about any other type of dogs.Peggy's adoption fee is $130.00 and that includes her spay, shots and a microchip. She will succeed with a knowledgeable dog person that is willing to be patient with her and give her time to find her footing. Peggy will be a great companion and she is well deserving.
